"Jack"

It’s been a crazy two months in the Capone household and, thanks to the latest addition, that doesn’t promise to change any time soon. Meet Jack. He’s tiny, he’s orange and he’s full of enough energy for twenty cats.

"Jack"

Sadly, my sweet little man Oliver passed away a little over a month ago from a congenital kidney defect. It was a stressful time both for me and for his brother Charlie. Chuck and Ollie, as I affectionately called them, were litter mates and best buddies who I adopted from Chicago Animal Control a little over seven years ago. It was a sad week when Oliver started getting really sick and truly difficult to let him go, not just for me but for Charlie who I often found laying with Oliver, all of their paws wrapped around each other in a big cat hug.

I was hesitant to bring Jack in to the home because I wasn’t quite sure how almost twenty pound Charlie would respond to a little ball of fur being brought in but I have to say, it has been truly fun to watch the two of them together. And really, how could I resist this adorable face?

Jack holds his own despite his tiny size and Charlie lets him know when he’s had enough (with a very gentle bop on the head) but for the most part, I think he’s happy to have a new buddy. (and Jack, aka Jackie Chan, gets to practice is mad Tae Kwon Do skills with him)

It hasn’t been without it’s stress… Jack came down with a fully expected upper respiratory infection (one of the potential issues you face when adopting from a shelter) which, thankfully, he seems to be getting past. (after four visits to the vet including an ER visit early Sunday morning) Unfortunately, Charlie is now down for the count but I’m hoping to nip that in the bud as quickly as possible so that they can get back to just being healthy, fun cats. In the meantime, there’s a lot of sleeping and sneezing going on.

Enjoy!
