Acorns and Oak Leaves… a Treasury

Acorns and Oak Leaf by amberalexander at Etsy

While I love the crimson and orange of Autumn, I also love the rusty, smoky colors that come along with them. Acorns and Oak Leaves,  a new treasury at Etsy, was inspired by these gorgeous colors which can be found in the beautiful watercolor by amberalexander, “Acorns and Oak Leaf.”

How amazing is that olive green cloche by yellowfield7 or the beautiful flower earrings by Meetals? Autumn is one of those seasons that provides so much in the way of color inspiration for so many fine works of art.

Please take a peek in each of the shops included in the treasury… you won’t be disappointed!

An Homage to my Fluffernutter Sandwich…

Sterling Ring with Square Button by quenchmetalworks on Etsy

…OK, admit it, you know what I’m talking about and it brought a smile to your face. I will even go so far as to admit that, even as an adult, I can’t resist that mouthwatering pairing of peanut buttery goodness mixed with the sinfully sweet marshmallow Fluff. The two combine together in an explosion of salty, sweet magic…

Phew… I’m getting off track… speaking of magic… how about some of these amazing items from Etsy? I LOVE, love, love that button ring by quenchmetalworks… oh so pretty. And that travel bag by redartleatherlondon? Luxurious!

Neutrality: Rustic Earth Tones… a Treasury at Etsy

Beige Brown Pearl Flower Bib Necklace by mojospastyle at Etsy

I love Autumn for all the rich, beautiful earth tones it serves up. Autumn also starts to make me think about cold weather, starting a fire and curling up on the couch with a good book and a warm, soft afghan. The colors in my latest treasury remind me of that.

Neutral, but not cold, tones, pale and soft with an understated warmth. There are so many favorites in this treasury it’s impossible to name just one… check out their shops and you’re sure to be delighted.

Autumn Harvest Pale- a New Treasury

"Making Mischief" Art Print by inapaleplace on Etsy

Wheat, pale orange and gray make up this soft, delicate treasury. Look at my photography and you’ll know that I love color but it doesn’t always have to be bright pops of strong color. I love how pale pastels can be paired with a bolder color such as the charcoal gray in the industrial fan in DailyMemorandum’s shop. The strength of the charcoal compliments the delicate orange and wheat and makes for an elegant mix.

Check out each of the shop’s in today’s treasury. They offer up a world of other items besides those you see here and you won’t be disappointed.

Autumnal Fire- a new metallic print

I love Autumn, especially here in Chicago where it typically starts to get cool early enough that you get a “real fall” and get to see some changing leaves.

New to the gallery is “Autumnal Fire,” a square format, metallic print of an abstract of a large oak tree with the most beautiful orange, red and yellow leaves. Taken at the “magic hour” just before sunset, looking up was like looking in to a fire. I love how the branches flow in to one another like the darkest part of a fire, with the leaves lighting up the photograph from within.

Enjoy!

One Fine Day, While Walking to the Post…

"Travelling Light" Vintage Inspired print by alicewphotography at Etsy

…I came across a beautiful, fall leaf that made me stop and pick it up. Burnt oranges, coppers, chocolate browns, pale butter yellows, creme and even a hint of teal and gray. It was so beautiful, I couldn’t keep it. I set it down and kept walking. I hope someone else noticed it and couldn’t help but stop and pick it up…

Check out the lovely Etsy shops for many more beautiful items just like these.

New to the Gallery- Canterbury

Brand new (not “relatively new” like the last couple have been) to the gallery is “Canterbury” an 8×8 metallic print.

The name came from the frequent use by Geoffrey Chaucer of the word whippletree, another term for a dogwood,  in “The CanterburyTales.”

Enjoy!

Meet the Artist- Janna Bissett of lilacpopphotography on Etsy

"Four Barrel" by lilacpopphotography at Etsy

I love art… any art, in any form. I need more walls, well and a bigger bank account, just to keep up with the amount of art I have and want to purchase. So, as I live in a city apartment and don’t have unlimited funds, I’ve decided to feed my addiction to art by interviewing other artists.

Ladies and Gents, drum roll please… introducing “Meet the Artist.”

Each month, I’ll be introducing you to a new artist. Get to know them, check out their galleries and fall in love with their work as much as I have.

To christen this new feature, please allow me to introduce you to Janna Bissett of lilacpopphotography on Etsy. Not only is she just the sweetest person around, I absolutely love her work. The pops of color, the gritty, urban feel; love, love, love.

So, without further adieu, meet Janna…

What it Feels Like to be a Girl… A Treasury @Etsy

I’m a dichotomy… sometimes a tomboy, sometimes girlie girl. I think I’ve found a pretty good balance though. Women aren’t actually as hard to understand as men like to think ;) They just need to understand that we’re the sum of all of our parts… some good, some bad, but in the end, it’s what makes us who we are.
