Photo(s) of the Day – Pops of Color : Red

I only had a few brief hours to shoot Edinburgh during my trip to Scotland this past Spring. We got in to the city late the night before, after a very long, overnight flight and a subsequently long (and frankly, terrifying as it was my first time driving in the UK) drive up from Manchester. Our first night there was committed to finding food and crashing early so I had to get as much of the city in as I could the next morning before heading up to Inverness.

Unfortunately, the next morning brought rain. While I love not having to shoot in full on, blazing sun, having to hold an umbrella, while wheeling your camera bag (I seriously have to start paring down what lenses I bring) and holding a camera isn’t really conducive to a productive morning. All that aside though, one thing about shooting on a grey and dreary day is that it really makes the beautiful pops of color stand out. On this particular morning, the color du jour seemed to be red.

Red in the windows. Red in the doors. Even the pop of red from a reflector on the back of a bike stood out against the dreary morning. There is so much more of Edinburgh that I want to see, preferably with at least one or two of the days being rain free, so I can’t wait until my next trip. Regardless, what little I was able to see that morning left me with an impression of a city with a great number of hidden gems, many, many kind and helpful people and a number of awesome photographs ready to be taken.

Enjoy!

Photo of the Day – Last Drop

Last Drop – Tracey Capone Photography ©2012

I thought it fitting that the last photo of the day of the week is “Last Drop.” I took this photo, in Edinburgh, on one of our first few days in Scotland. Unfortunately, we didn’t get much chance to look around Edinburgh so I will definitely be heading back for more. Because of our very short time, I was very happy to come across a stretch of very colorful bars and pubs just as we were leaving the city.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I will be busy getting my new website up and running. It’s going to be a lot of work but I am so excited to share it with everyone next week!

Enjoy!
